First off, I'm pretty excited that Philadelphia beat out Las Vegas. With all that glitz, glam, and action it offers I was sure it would be up there with Chicago and New York as the West Coast mecca for live entertainment, especially with all its cirque shows, and have a large enough tourism rate to beat my city. However, it just goes to show you that the majority of the theater-goers are still in it for the classic theater experience, whatever their tastes, and need more substance than Vegas show to wet their appetite more than Vegas shows can, though they are still an astounding site to see. What's surprising is how high on the list LA is. Granted, they have had a rising theater community in the past five years or so and would definitely be on the list, but I had not realized that they had grown so predominately in the industry to be that highly ranked among 30 cities.
