When I first read the title of this article, I admit that my first thought was, "which spice makes it spicy." After reading the article in full, I still do not know. I think if the plot had to do with spices, or ordering spices, I might be a little less baffled, but I, alas, am not. The history of spices is so rich and concerns so much of British colonial history that I probably would have enjoyed more a farce concerning the order of a vast quantity of spices, but given that it is, in fact, a farce, I think that the sex joke is appropriate. I do not know if this is an appropriate date night for just any couple (perhaps not the ideal first date show to see, unless you're looking to hook up on Valentine's Day, a decidedly unromantic course of events for the most romantic day of the year). I love the nonsensical aspect of farces; they truly allow you to forget reality and accept the world as given to you by the playwright.
