Yes, You Need Informational Interviews. Here’s How To Land Them
www.fastcompany.com: “Are informational interviews not a thing anymore?” a reader asked me last week. “I’ve reached out to a few friends of friends about these, but I must be going about it in the wrong way, because I either don’t get a response or I find myself in an actual interview.”

I have never heard of an informal, interview, but I can see why they could be so helpful. I also think they could be extremely helpful when thinking about going into an actual interview to see what the company values. I think, even when you are not changing careers or doing something that drastic, I think it could be helpful to get a sense of a new company and how that company actually functions. I can see the value in getting a different perspective from what the hiring office is going to tell you. Actually, when applying for college, I felt like often the most useful information came from actual students that I would talk to. They usually helped me figure out the vibe of the place, as opposed to what the website or admission office said. I actually might start using this technique in the future to figure out if I actually want to work somewhere.
