BOB DOEPEL & CHICAGO SCENIC STUDIOS - 40 Years Of Making It All Come Together
CONVERSATIONS with Ed Tracy: To hear Bob Doepel reflect on Chicago Scenic Studios, the company he founded almost 40 years ago, you might think that it just happened to come together. In truth, Doepel has elevated the process of making things come together, often under impossible deadlines, on projects that materialize overnight, to an art form. His company has a vast array of resources, and coordinates with other industry professionals, to collaborate with clients to turn vision into reality.

This company sounds like another company that one should strive to work for at some point in their theatre technical career. Better, they are located in the heart of Chicago, who could ask for more. They seem to do large scale projects ranging from theatre to museum to larger installments. And now that the have a brand new facility, with what i would assume means newer equipment and tools. This would mean its a great place to get an opportunity to work with the latest technologies first hand. They seem to be making big strives to stay up today with the times, as the add a projection and led wall departments and focus on that new wave of entertainment technology. I would possible seek an internship or apprenticeship from a large company like this one. I would be interested to see what shows they have originated the designs for. I would also like to learn more about the designer who work here and how their process works.
