I am so honored to be in such an incredible program. I love how generous and incredible our alumni network is. It's crazy to think about one day being apart of an alumni network that is so successful in the theatrical profession.
This really is a great showing for the school and the Design and Production program as a whole. The diversity of those receiving degrees in terms of in the program and years is amazing. The family that CMU drama creates and the connections that grads are able to connect. And the evidence is right there, with recent graduates to like Andrew Leitch showing there connections, "My first job in L.A. was on 'Dexter' working with an art department of mostly CMU folks." The diversity of work from Veep to SNL is also something to marvel in as the CMU goes off to a variety shows and types of television entertainment. It makes me so proud and excited to be apart of this wonderful community of designers and creators.
I'm still shocked that I got to the same school that so many greats before us graduated from. It's an odd feeling of pride, responsibility, gratefulness, and intimidation. Of course I'm proud to be here. When I was accepted, I felt like the people in the SoD at CMU thought I had the potential to go where previous alum have gone. I feel like I need to live up to those expectations and keep pushing my potential. The overarching feeling I have towards this school is gratefulness. I can't believe I have this opportunity and I can't wait to see where it takes me. In the mix though, is a feeling of intimidation. The journey before us is daunting. We'll see what happens in time.
This is so inspiring to me. Though I have only been going to CMU for a few weeks, I have felt and noticed so much of the talent and intelligence cultivated in this community, it is both intimidating and inspiring. To think that people who have gone through the program I am currently going through have been able to successfully show their art to the world and be acknowledged for it makes me hopeful for the future. Our art can really make an impact on this world and CMU is providing us with all the opportunities for our voice to be heard.
I know that CMU already has a huge presence in the Tony's, but now it's also taking over Hollywood and the Emmy's. I'm still in awe by the abilities of our alumnus, and its amazing to know that our school of drama descendants are leaders in their fields. It also opened my eye up to the possibility of working in the film industry using the stage oriented education I'm learning here.
