The Second City’s Almost Accurate Guide to America
DC Theatre Scene: Mountain Dew. Hulk Hogan. Stuffed crust pizza. These. These things make America great. At least according to The Second City. It’s a sad list, but luckily the open secret here is that The Second City does actually make us great. Or, rather, certified platinum awesome.

It is very hard to describe, “what makes up America”. There is what most white middle/upper class people think of America and then there is what everyone else thinks of America. Now, I am a middle class white American, so I do not see a lot of injustice or discrimination from 80% of the world. I might not get hired because of my gender or my views, but that’s about all the discrimination that can happen to me. The most I hear of injustices that happen in America are what comes to me through the Internet. Based on this article, it seems like Second City satirically portrayed these issues pretty well. I enjoy comedic theatre and especially well done skits giving you spurts of funny, relevant information, especially done in the style of Saturday Night Live. Seeing as most of the best SNL skit writers and actors came from Second City, I’m assuming the show, which I will never get to see, is pretty good.
