I must say that Dewalt isn’t my favorite tool manufacturer, but this new product is still cool. I cant say I would have any use for it but I’m sure there are many carpenters out there that would love to have a tool like this in their line up. Something I don’t think people pick up on is how little the number 275 is. You might find yourself going back to recut one piece of wood up to three times and let me tell you they add up. Pretty soon you would be going back to the conventional ways and using a handsaw, and suddenly the convenience of this tool disappears. I am always skeptical when using battery operated power tools mainly because I always forget to plug them in or just leave it out for so long letting it run to 0%. This is just my stupidity getting the best of me, but I’m sure there are several more people like me that would have the same problem. I’m sure this is a great tool, but probably not for me.

Two different products that stand out to me in this article are the bamboo decking and the USB clip on charging units.

The reason that I like the decking is because last year I decided that I wanted to put a new decking on my front porch. I was looking for something that was virtually maintenance free, but didn’t look tacky or a composite material. It is extremely hard to find something that fits those specifications without completely break the bank. From the picture this bamboo adhesive mixture looks like something I would have been interested in putting on my deck.

The reason the USB wall plates interest me so much is because of how easy it is to use. I was looking into doing this in my kitchen at my house and found it really difficult to find an assembly that had good reviews and would match my homes plugs. This is a great solution to that problem because you no longer have to disassemble your wall, all you have to do is remove the plate and put on this new one.

Here is yet another home improvement article. Lowe’s says, never stop improving. This is especially true with gadgets and things. I was not really expecting to see too many gadgets in an article about a construction show but a lot of these products do not necessarily require a full renovation and can be retrofitted. Now there are a lot of building materials on this list that I found interesting. Composite materials are always improving and materials that will take the place of weaker, more common materials. The basement wall lining looks especially cool. It is basically a segmented wall that you can line your walls with for a dry, warmer basement. That is truly an innovation. I love seeing brand new ideas, not just improvements like a lot of these other ideas are. For example, the ceiling panels look really cool and I am sure are better than the standard acoustic panel but it is not truly innovative. I would love to go to a show like this and see all the innovations.
