I find it really endearing (and encouraging) that there are awards programs that celebrate theater produced outside of NYC. What I found most interesting was the differentiation in awards categories for both large and midsize productions. Unlike theater along the Great White Way, regional production can vary greatly in size and scope, which is imperative to take into account when analyzing their relative success. Larger productions naturally have larger budgets, and thus the quality and scope of the work can fluctuate as a result. What I would look into in the future would be the number of theatres in the Chicago area and the number of theatres who are officially members of the Jeff Awards Program.
