This play has probably gained more relevancy due to Steve Job's death. Now instead of just reiterating what we all experienced in terms of Steve Jobs and Apple, the story teller of this piece is telling a myth or legend. Steve Jobs while alive was just a successful man, but in death he is the most successful man who changed how we think about both computers and phones two things changed the world. It is interesting that this play is coming to Broadway right after Steve Job's death it will be interesting to see the difference of audience response. I wonder if people will see him in a better light because he is dead?

When working on a production, you have to be flexible and aware of the current events. Whether those current events inspire your initial creative designs or not, there may be events that will change the way your audience views it. I know of many productions that were in the works just before 9/11, that had to drastically change or work in discussions and talk backs in order to communicate with the audience about the piece and its relevancy. Unfortunately too many designers I know are stuck in the bubble that is Carnegie Mellon SOD. I know that this blog is one effort to keep students abreast of happenings, but it is in the best interest of all designers and technicians and actors to follow the news. And not just the big news that is tweeted and facebook status'd, but to be aware of the issues to help better inform us as artists.

I agree with zoe as this play probably does become more relevant with his somewhat untimely death. The way his show may change is an interesting topic as how much should a show change based on new material in a recollective performance event? we discussed this show and this performer in directing a couple times over the last week and what i hear about it , the show would be a cool experience with or without changes. I hope that the changes are done with respect to the subject and by what i have heard , I imagine it will.

yes steve jobs has had some amazing and innovative accomplishments, however i feel that this play wouldn't have near the relevance as it will now due to his death. Through Steve Job's life and legacy we see, unfortunately, after his death just what he has been able to do for the modern day ideal of the computer. Through out his life its not uncommon that Steve Job's was seen as a bully and a capitalist. Now people can see just what great things he accomplished, iI definitely feel this play will do wonders for the image and the legacy that America's "last tyrant" left behind
