Getting to Know Daniel Lurie
Art Works: Earlier this month we welcomed Daniel Lurie to the NEA as our new Senior Advisor and Director of Strategic Partnerships. As you’ll learn in the interview below, Dan comes from a family that firmly believes in the interrelationship of arts and community. Seems to me he won’t have any trouble at all fitting in around here!

Mr. Lurie sounds like a great person to have working for the NEA for a number of reasons. The first is that he has his feet in a lot of doors-he grew up around art, but is also a lawyer and politician, with a lot of experience navigating DC from his time at HUD. Secondly, he is very passionate about making art an integral part of a community, not just an add-on or something expendable. The more art can become part of a place, the harder it is to take it away. Can't wait to see how he adds to the work NEA is doing already.
