This seems like just a really elaborate way for Universal to make more money. While the concept of being able to "visit" the locations from the Harry Potter books and movies is appealing to die-hard fans, it has a limited appeal. I also think it's interesting that the gift shops and restaurants outnumber the rides.

this seems like a good way for universal to get more people in the doors. thought the uses of harry potter which is a very large group of people that would come to there park because of the harry potter world. but the attraction it self seems like it is very alaboret and a lot of thought has went in to this. they are inverting a lot of money into it to so they have a lot behind this so if it dose not work it will probable be a problem for them. For the people that are big in to harry potter this will be rily cool for them but for me i dont rily care about this

I find it incredible how far they will go with one idea, how much more can they produce out of this character? I've seen everything from Harry Potter tooth brushes and sheets to school binders and rainboots, now stamps, a post office and and theme park? However, I doubt there will be much difficulty in attracting people to the park. Close to every child knows harry potter, and many parents will think of it as good activity.

When we talk about how there are more shops than rides being built, remember that this is the Islands of Adventure park, which only has 14 large-scale attractions to begin with anyway. Harry Potter is retooling two coasters (a family coaster and the famous Dueling Dragons) to fit the theme and is building a brand new dark ride inside a Hogwarts Castle-themed facility. This will likely be a very popular attraction and will show a serious impact on Universal's attendance.

I think they push some ideas too far. The shops do out number the rides which will be something they are going to want to change if they want their profits to remain high. i just see this getting old fast. Im just grateful there is no high school musical world.... god that would be annoying.

I am so excited for this. You have no idea. My girlfriend from High School and I are getting together this summer and going to the opening and celebrating our 21st birthdays with butterbeer.

Amazingly, there is a huge market in theme parks for catering to adults. Walt Disney World has attractions and restaurants that turn into night clubs after parks close. The Harry Potter generation are all almost adults now. They have disposable income for more elaborate diversions related to childhood experiences. Nostalgia is a powerful market force.

I'm just hoping the butterbeer will be alcoholic.

Although I agree this seems like another ploy to make money, I am so unbelievably excited to go to Hogwarts!! I grew up on Harry Potter and going to the these park is just another wonderful way to live vicariously through my childhood. I agree with Cass, also. The Harry Potter generation is now grown up and is willing to spent its money to relive their childhood.
