While I think it's cool that someone is trying to start up a show about zombies, I'm more interested in how Craig's List is being used. I know that the site has been used as a soliciting ground for services and goods since it's induction, but it's interesting to see that people are using it as an open crew call. I'm curious to see if people get any quality responses out of a system like this, or if a lot of people who think they're qualified for the job respond.
I think this is a terrible idea. Enough with the zombies and vampires already. Can no one think of something that is new and creative that is their own? When I saw the new Pride and Prejudice book but with vampires I was disgusted. This reminds me of that. I just don't see how a person can take a classic and distort it.
I personally zombies and stories surrounding them, and while their has been a lot of stories and movies, there has never really been a big zombie TV show that I can think of, and I think it has the potential to be a very interesting and compelling show. On that note, if I could, I'd be really interested in going and working on the show. I like the idea of putting up a crew call on craig's list, and I think that their will generally be a good response, but we'll have to wait and see.
This Craig's list craze is really starting to disturb me. When I think of the website, I think of the God awful personal ads posted in the wee hours of the morning and the "free" items lingering in only the most sketchy side streets.
The whole article seems sort of fishy, since there's no legitimacy to the show (it hasn't landed with a network, there's no real contact information that makes me inclined to believe that he does, in fact, have a producer that's interested). Too bad, though, because a zombie show would be awesome. HBO already has that awful series about vampires, doesn't it?
Like Charley, I find that it's interesting that Craiglist has evolved to become an open crew call like productionhub.com. I'm curious what kind of quality crew members will respond to a Craiglist's list call. This is a good example of know your audience, if you advertise on Craiglist you will get a different quality audience of potential workers vs. a tech theatre/film crew call website.
