Actor Kal Penn becomes arts groups liason for the White House!

Chicago Theater Blog: "Great news! The Obama administration is definitely following through on their promise to support the arts in a greater way, knowing that a vibrant American arts community creates a more vibrant American society. Specifically - actor Kal Penn, known for his roles in the 'Harold and Kumar' movies and the television series 'House,' has been hired by the White House to serve as a liason between the administration and arts groups."

It's so great that Obama realizes the value of supporting the arts. I'm impressed that he's kept his word and is focusing on arts outreach so early. This is probably an opportunity Kal Penn did not expect when he started acting.

This is a great move for Obama! I met Kal Penn last year when he and Zachary Quinto were campaigning for Obama in Pittsburgh. I'm glad that Kal Penn left House for something of this magnitude and not something bad. My mom and I were very confused by the season finale.

This is such a great opportunity for Kal and for the american public. I am upset I haven't seen this house episode yet - oh well. Hopefully, in the future this will provide great resources for the arts community.

Thanks for linking to my blog (ChicagoTheaterBlog.com). I am an avid supporter of the arts and the vital role the arts play in the transformation of a city - not to mention the money and jobs it creates. I know here in Chicago that the arts bring in more money AND PEOPLE than all of our professional sports teams combined. Thankfully our mayor (Daley) understands this, and has gone out of his way to promote the arts (especially theatre), going so far as actually selling city buildings to theatre companies for $1. Pretty cool. Once again, thanks much, and happy theatre to you. Scotty Zacher
