An insider's Q&A with 'Men in Black Alien Attack' creative director Dave Cobb
Theme Park Insider: "Universal Studios Florida's Men in Black Alien Attack has set the standard for theme park shoot-'em-up dark rides since its debut in 2000. It deservedly remains a favorite of many Theme Park Insider readers, so when MIB Creative Director Dave Cobb agreed to answer your questions about the ride, I wasn't surprised that so many of you responded."

The process behind the creation of amusement park rides is a pretty interesting process. While I was expecting it to be similar to the steps most productions go through, I didn't expect it to be as similar as it actually is. It's always interesting to see how versatile a set of skills can be if a persons is willing to implement them in areas that are not the same as their original training.
Amusement park rides are one of the most wonderful examples of potential integration between technology and entertainment design. It's a production - same as theater and film - but moving more towards interactivity with the audience. I find it interesting that as technology-based storytelling movies towards interactivity as an automatic; the highest-tech entertainments are still video games and virtual realities.
I'm not sure why Universal hasn't decided to capitalize on the MIB franchise sooner - at least now the ride can tie in with MIBIII in 2011.
