Networking Without Power: Going Old School
Stepcase Lifehack: "Remember the old days of Rolodexes, before mobile phones had every gadget and gizmo now known to man (and woman)? Remember when we didn’t have Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to connect with other businesspeople and had to actually, you know, talk to people?"

I really agree with this mentality. Getting to meet people face to face is a much better way to make connections than over the internet. I think doing business this way would lead to a better reputation and to stronger links with people. Sometimes we get so sucked into our technology we forget how people react to physical connections.
There are many people myself included who are offended by marketing schemes that treat you like a number. Yes, the message seems individualized but you know that the company is just trying to interest as many people as possible for the sake of making $. Quality over quantity in my opinion. Loyal customers continue shopping because of the people who work there, the quality of the product or how you feel during the transaction. I go to the veggie place in the UC because the women who work there are incrediably friendly and warm. The food isn't great, but I go for the people. Physical connections are so important. Being in the same room with someone, looking into their eyes is half of it for me when deciding to go one place over another.
