Stage Preview: Prime Stage's 'Hound' is clued in to Sherlock Holmes
PostGazette: "In its Prime Stage adaptation by Terry McCabe, 'Baskervilles' is almost perversely undramatic, dominated by sequential, point by point narrative, with the actors often illustrating what has been reported. The narration is by Watson, as in the stories, so his voice is dominant, now talking directly to the audience, now as voice-over, with little apparent reason for which mode is chosen."

This sounds pretty disappointing. This show sounds like exemplary proof that not everything can be translated into theater. Sherlock Holmes is a great character, but he's meant to be read.
Yeah, not all literature transfers to theater readily. As the reviewer said, the entire style of Sherlock Holmes is one that is not easily suited to theatrical adaptations...especially the first person narrative structure. It sounds like the performers did a good job with what they got, though.
