Michael Tait - 2008 Parnelli Visionary Award Winner

PLSN: "“Michael Tait is the reincarnation of Leonardo da Vinci — an artist, an engineer, a sculptor, a true genius,” says production designer Steve Cohen. “He single-handedly raised the bar on production design in my lifetime and stewarded the growth of our little business into the gift that keeps on giving.”"

It is nice to see a mainstream article about Tait Towers. It seems that everything I hear about the company is word of mouth, and I wondered if it was all hype because we have alums working there. I guess I should go take a look for myself.

michael tait just seemed to have the right idea at the right time. now he (or his company, rather) is having all sorts of right ideas all the time. i've heard that michael is more of a designer and a businessman rather than a technician nowadays, but the thought that someone with a technical background at first has moved on to designing artistic shows is appealing. we train our designers here in the art first and the technology comes second, but i think that the way tait works is better (at least for my style of thinking). knowing your technological limits (or lack thereof as it sometimes seems with tait products) first before creating a design eliminates much of the time-consuming redesign and re-education that we experience here. with tait, there's a lot of time spent prototyping and testing, but the end product always seems to meet the original goals.
