Wow, I had no idea that Paul Newman died. He was a great actor, and it's great that Broadway is paying him that respect. I also didn't know he did so much Broadway; I've always thought of him as a movie actor.

That is very sweet of Broadway to dim the lights to him. He certainly made an impact on the theatre which I had no idea about. I also only thought of him as a movie actor, but apparently he did more.

I thinks appropriate for Broadway to dim its lights. There are a lot of industries that Paul Newman has influenced in giving back to the people in theatre, the community, and Hollywood. I like they are dimming their lights because that is what makes Broadway so speical is its never dimming lights. Paul Newman deserves it.

I agree with Kelli. It's totally appropriate for Broadway to pay respect to a great actor and an amazing philanthropist. His work through Newman's Own has been amazing, and I'm glad he's getting recognized.

Even though we can appear divided on many levels, I find it really heart felt to pull people together in such a communal space to pay respects to such a great person. It seems he had a hand in many many areas, and collected fans wherever he went. He will be missed.

I agree with many of the above posters. Aside from being a great actor whose work should inspire many of us, what Mr. Newman did in his later years was honorable and worthwhile.

Too few influential people within our industry tend towards philanthropy in their older years -- Mr. Newman should be an example to us all as we get older. While his philanthropic and charitable activities were not entrainment related, I'm sure the benefactors of his charity appreciate it immensely.

Its important that we as a community recognize those among us who have contributed positively to the global community. I think the leagues decision was a thoughtful and respectful one. I'm interested to see who else they deem worth of a such a choice later on.

This is a very fitting and deserved tribute to Paul Newman. I have always admired Paul Newman. Not only was he an incredible actor, but he was well rounded, doing both theatre and movies. In real life, he was an actually good guy, a family man, and a philanthropist. The world needs more people like Paul Newman, and he will be greatly missed. Fortunately his salad dressing lives on!
