The Bard and Bart Simpson: A Natural Pairing?

washingtonpost.com: "The Scottish play has undergone a few adjustments in 'MacHomer,' the Bard-meets-the-Simpsons mash-up now strutting and fretting its hour-plus upon the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company stage."

This sounds so weird. I am neither a fan of The Simpsons nor the Scottish play, and yet this sounds like something that I might like to see. Apparently others have also found it to be worth their while, as it has proven successful for quite some time. I'm surprised that this guy has been able to get this far without any legal fuss from the Simpson people--luckily it sounds like they are fans of the project too.

This sounds like it would be funny to watch. I remember The Simpsons did a spoof of Hamlet a few years ago and it was cute to watch. I feel that you have to be familiar with the original play and appreciate it in order to laugh at a spoof of it. I think that a production like this might offend some crazy Shakespeare fans but the people who can easily enjoy a Shakespeare play would find this adaptation delightful.

I think I might have seen this guy when I was in middle school or high school...I definitely saw some guy who did really great impressions of the Simpsons characters, and I vaguely remember something about MacHomer, but that could just be false memory. If it is the same guy, though, I understand why it is successful. Not only did he do spot-on Simpsons voices, but he also had a great stage presence and sense of humor. From what I remember, it was a good show.
