Bag Yourself A PC

Toolmonger: "PCs don’t feel too at home in the shop, what with all the dust, dirt, oil, paint overspray, you-name-it. Open up your home or office PC case and look at how much dust has accumulated inside it — that’s only a fraction of what happens in an industrial setting. Made of a breathable fabric, the PC Dirt Bag totally encases your PC and filters out all the nasty shop crud."

This is a very cool product. One question, what keeps the computer from over heating? Other than that it seems like they have covered all of the bases. Now does it really work? I think the Velcro strap around the cables isn't a great seal. But hopefully it works and more importantly, doesn't damage the cable or the ports in the computer with additional stress on the cables. The only way to know if it is going to work is test it out... and pray your PD doesn't get fried.
What about laptops? Is there something out there to protect those in the shop? It seems they have dealt with the screen issue for monitor covers. Maybe they will release it soon...

Uhh it's a fabric bag. It breathes.

Seems like overkill when you can just put that kinda material over the openings in your case. ...Or just put the entire thing in a cabinet and blow it out once every few years.

As for laptops, there are keyboard condoms and all sorts of crap marketed towards that.

Like Cody says, it does seem like this would cause the computer to overheat, but I guess if you aren't doing really intense work with it, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. It definitely seems like it would prevent dust from being as big an issue, but the tradeoffs might be too expensive in the long term for this to be practical.

Our computer back home once completely crashed due to the dust inside. It is so helpful not to have to open up the computer to blow it out.

Not a bad idea to look at getting. This appears to be a revolutionary idea in some ways, but there are other ways to accomplish this without spending it on something special. I have seen people use standard house air filters and put them wherever they can on a computer and make it work. The downside, it doesn't look good and it takes longer to do it. One other thing to think about it a case like the one for the CNC and just get a smaller model for a standard shop application.
