Backstage: "A last-gasp attempt to stave off a strike by the WGA failed Sunday, and Hollywood writers launched plans to mount picket lines at studios and networks on both coasts."

There seems to be consistency with every article that I read: the union's demands are unresponible. Perhaps they need to accept the halfway points by now and just wait for a better time to continue this battle. As the cliche goes "Rome wasn't built in a day." Perhaps the unions are being unresponible and that's why everyone is afraid of this strike: it may take MONTHS to resolve.

It’s very interesting that this strike is mostly about new media. With the invention of different ways to view/listen to media there have been some really big and complicated legal battles. I don’t understand why WGA wants paid for the streaming of TV online. WGA stated in this article that if a company makes money off a script then the writer should get some cash for it. Yet the studios are putting this stuff online for free. The studios are making no money on it and the writers still want money. I enjoyed hearing about the roll John Wells is playing in this situation.
