Just a bit of "news from the real world" on this article. I'm not sure how unions handle issues like this on Broadway, etc, but I know that in Disney there are very specific requirements for talking versus non talking characters. The actors that talk are required to be a part of Equity, where as the non-talking (fur) characters are a part of another union. It is great to hear students experimenting, but sometimes the real world won't allow it.
i have never seen a dance piece with talking in, but i am sure that is is one of those awesome or really awful experiences. i mean, if it is done with careful consideration and good timing, it could be quite successful. but at the same time, if it does not possess these qualities, i could see it ripping you out of the moment, and making a piece that is not meant to be funny quite humorous, as it sounds in the case of this concert.
