Star Tribune: "Passionate, insightful and reverential, Tony Award-winning director and designer Julie Taymor speaks with an almost clerical faith in the power of art."
I find it fascinating that Julie Taymor's first step in sucessfully bringing a show overseas is 'adapting the comedy.' I certainly understand that all art must be based within a given society. However, by placing comedic elements at the top of this director's list, this illustrates the importance of comedy in culture. So important infact that you would not understnad the drama as well, if distracted by inappropriate comedy.
