It's nice to see a little more support for the Unions, even if it's just another union. But maybe people will realize they're not being unreasonable. All of the other broadway workers and other theatre technicians across the world support this strike. Maybe they're doing it for a good reason.
I agree with sarah on this one, its nice to see support from other theatre technicians world wide and to see that people outside the microcosm of what's going on can see and support our Union. Maybe it will open up producers eyes to see that what we want isn't that unreasonable.
It doesn't surprise me that the unions are supporting each other, as we have seen similar acts in the WGA strike, with unions like SAG, the DGA, and IATSE supporting them as well. I think they really are hoping for the same type of support if they strike against the same groups, so there definitely is some sefishness involved, but it still is a good thing to see happening.
Yeah, the support isn't surprising, and it is a pretty obvious attempt to rub one union's back, hoping for return service if it ever comes to that, but it is interesting to note that local 1 doesn't typically go out with other unions. For example when the musicians struck, local 1 didn't go with them, they just continued on per usual. I wonder if in the past Local 1 has made its enemies this way, and now the other unions would like to make amends and state their support of Local 1 anew, hoping for a more supportive friend in the future.
