Calif. Court to Hear Oral Arguments
Backstage: "The California Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the case of a Los Angeles personal manager who wants the court to decide if the state law regarding talent agents applies to managers. Proceeds will be broadcast live online and on television."

I find it really interesting that this would be a problem personal managers would have. Doesn't being a personal manager mean that you are contracted with the talent and receive a percentage of their income? If your client is screwing you by refusing to pay for gigs you've booked you have a bad contract with them. Yes it sucks you're not getting paid but you should have a contract that includes bookings anyways. CYA people.
I would most certainly agree with Aaron on this. How could you enter into a contract and then realise that you don't get paid if your client doesn't feel like it. I do think it's good that they're trying to overcome a law that is unfair to out of state people because that isn't fair.
