Broadway stagehand strike unlikely to hurt touring shows here
TwinCities.com: "The strike by Broadway stagehands has shuttered most of the theaters on the Great White Way, but the ripples are unlikely to be felt by touring Broadway shows playing Twin Cities. Striking workers in New York belong to Local 1 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. The Twin Cities-based IATSE members working the current engagement of 'The Lion King' at Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre belong to Local 13. That chapter has an existing contract and, according to spokesman Dirk Ostertag, a state of 'labor peace.'"
