Rhinoceros Fest taps into city's fringe theater
Sun Times: "Fringe festivals in Edinburgh and New York are high-profile events drawing participants from around the country and the world. Chicago has a similar festival that pays homage to a thriving off-beat local scene filled with companies and solo performers working to the beat of a different drummer."

The Rhinoceros Fest...is this a place for theater that isn't normally accepted? Maybe. I think that this kind of theater isn't necessarily fresh or understood, but its made by a group of people who want to explore work on their own terms and show it...perhaps it will spark new ideas for upcoming playwrights. I'm not sure this is the place for someone who has a slight interest in theater but doesn't know if they want to participate...not all theater can be done with a stick and some blue paint. I have a question from reading this article though...are the excluding plays that aren't influenced by Beckett? That aren't necessarily minimalistic? Sounds like the typical theater kids are getting together with their paint and sound boards and excluding everyone else...just like society does to them (or so they think).
