BC/EFA Donates $250K Toward Hurricane Sandy Relief

Stage Directions: Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will take $150,000 of the money it raises this fall for its fundraising drive and donate it to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, AmeriCares, and the American Red Cross, agencies it believe are “committed to immediately helping victims of Hurricane Sandy.” They will also donate an additional $100,000 to The Actors Fund, helping it continue to provide emergency financial assistance, access to medical care and temporary housing to those within the entertainment community impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

It is great to hear that our industry foundations are supporting the people that were affected by Sandy. I wonder if in these foundations and groups, they have in their mission to help in the event of a major natural disaster like this hurricane. Also I wonder how much money has been put towards the recovery from this storm by people and their money compared to the government and large companies. With how many people lived where the eye of the storm hit, I wonder if some people will never come back and move to a different place like what happened in Katrina and if these areas will have a long battle to be back to normal.
