AV: AKG C544L Headset Microphones Chosen For New Production Of Jesus Christ Superstar

Pro Sound Web: Andrew Lloyd Webber was just 21 years old when he and Tim Rice collaborated to pen Jesus Christ Superstar. Now, more than 40 years later, Laurence Connor’s contemporary take on the production, which features former Spice Girl Mel C and Australian comedian Tim Minchin, is in the midst of an arena tour of the United Kingdom.

No one thinks about microphone selection as much as my friend Daniel Lundburg. I stopped him on the mezzanine and we were talking about this article. This article describes the process whereby these designers selected the microphones that they used for Jesus Christ Superstar. I was curious if there were Broadway type stars that used a particular body mic because of the way that it picked up the specific nature of their voice. Does Bernadette Peters travel with a country man B6 that she uses in all her show? Daniel said no. We did agree that there are rock stars that always sing into a specific model of microphone but not on Broadway. We also agreed that most Broadway mics get chosen because of cost and rugged ability considerations.
