The Duquesne Tamburitzans celebrate 75 years of ethnic musical joy

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: A lot has changed in 75 years -- and the Duquesne University Tamburitzans are no exception. Since its founding in 1937 as a group of about a dozen men who played the tamburitza (a stringed instrument from Croatia), it has evolved into a 30-plus student troupe whose touring accolades range from local gigs to world-class music halls across the globe. But its mission remains consistent: Preserving and promoting Eastern European culture through traditional ethnic songs and dances.
