The muscle behind the magic

The United States Army: "An army of children and adults fill the stage inside of Heidelberg’s Roadside Theater, belting out song lyrics, and rehearsing lines of dialogue.
In the far corner of the theater sits Sandy Everett and her team of volunteers. The group is studying a stack of papers, “blueprints,” containing notes on the 16 set changes needed to pull off their latest production, the musical “Oliver.”"

I wish we would see more stories like this in the national media. When you bring up the United States Military in most conversations, a negative overtone is set. America is also given a bad reputation for not supporting their arts. This story really allows us to see that our military is in place to help serve and protect our people, but to also help other communities around the world. We are strengthening not only their food supplies, and general well-being, but we are putting teams of soldiers into places where we can help culture some of their children. We can help divert their attention away from some of the horrible things that are going on in the world currently. Yes, that's what theater can be for. It helps the audience take a breather away from the stresses and imperfections that real life presents, by submerging the audience in a completely different story.
