John Wells elected WGA West president

Hollywood Reporter: "Signaling that it is ready to strike out in a new direction, the WGA West has elected John Wells president. Wells, who earned 52.8% of the vote, ran against the Writers United slate, headed by presidential candidate Elias Davis, which was committed to following the path set by outgoing president Patric Verrone."

What an honor it is to see a CMU alum and substantial donator in this high position. I do find it interesting that this group of writers would elect a producer to a high seat like this. In these times of economic downturn, I've noticed all sorts of businesses, not just the arts, look to different genres of people to bring their business back to a better place. It is all about who is successful, and more importantly, who brings success where they go. In any case, I wish Mr. Wells the best of luck with his new job, and I hope it might bring opportunities to CMU students.
