Irish & Classical Theatre boils down 'Crime and Punishment'

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "In a world saturated with information, says Matthew Gray, the survivors are those who are good at editing.
He's demonstrating that belief as the director of Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theatre's production of 'Crime and Punishment,' which begins performances today.
Marilyn Campbell and Curt Columbus' live stage adaptation distills this complex tale and its contest between two minds into an 80-minute drama enacted by three actors."

When I first read Crime and Punishment, I thought opera. I found the internal peril of Raskolnikov to be such a brilliant contrast to the dynamic dumpster of a world outside his window. The chaos in the streets and in the parlors of these Russian men and women seemed like such a colorful painting on such a large canvas.

Reading this article, however, I have some doubts about my first interpretation of the play. Like Gray says, it's more watching the internal struggle of Raskolnikov - and because we already 'know the game' the outside world is of little interest, especially considering that it is a 'memory play.'

I think i'm gonna take a gander at this production. Sounds very interesting.
