Future Swiss Army Knives Won't Have Blades, Maker Victorinox Says

gizmodo.com: The Swiss Army Knife has become such a shorthand for multifunctionality that companies producing does-a-lot-of-stuff wares will often say that their goods are the “Swiss Army Knife” of whatever category they’re a part of. You can use the tool to cut stuff, snip stuff, uncork stuff, file stuff, in some cases download stuff.

The first knife I ever bought was an engraved swiss army knife in Switzerland when I was 12 and since that day I have always carried a leatherman or swiss army knife with me on the daily up until this summer where i was working in an environment where knives were not allowed. I find myself reaching for the knife part of my multitools on the daily weather it be to open mail, cut yarn or make a quick fix around the house, the knife is definitely the most used part of my multitool arsenal. with that being said i understand the appeal of a knifeless multitool for world travelers and people who live in places where multillos are not allowed. This headline definitely caught me off guard as I thought this headline meant that all swiss army knives with blades were being discontinued, but with this knifless blad being an addition to the market as opposed to a replacement I think multi tools will be accessible to a whole new market.
