The Arts Are Big Business — and in Real Trouble
WQXR Blog | WQXR: The performing arts and entertainment industry is in real trouble thanks to COVID-19 — the sector’s workers, venues, and organizations are in desperate need of help because of the shutdown. The nature of the way it functions (lots of close contact, mainly indoors) means it’s going to be among the last to reopen: most live performance is cancelled until at least 2021, and television and film production is still trying to figure out when it can start up again.
