CNN: "Spaceships and aliens and stormtroopers and lightsabers and droids and all in one attraction."
That's what Scott Trowbridge, a Disney theme park designer known as an Imagineer, told me ahead of riding the highly-anticipated, 18-minute new attraction, "Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance" at Walt Disney World.
"[It's] everything that makes Star Wars Star Wars," he said.

Wow, what a cool kind of ride for an amusement park. I bet that TAIT had a hand in building at least a part of this experience – the description of the technical aspects of the ride sound very much like something in TAIT’s sphere of production.
I have never been to a Disney theme park, so it surprised me to hear that the aliens in the different parts of the ride were animatronic and not actors in costume. Especially considering that so many of the actors and extras in Star Wars movies are just people is elaborate costumes and prosthetics. Do not get me wrong, I looked up videos of A1000 Series humanoid animatronics, and they are mind-blowingly realistic and nearly believable, but I would have thought that keeping actors in a ride would be cheaper and reduce unexpected issues in a ride full of patrons. I guess Disney does not really need to consider the price of something like life-like robots, and upon further consideration, having a human actor does come with all the payroll expenses, having to update or replace costume parts, and needing to replace actors as they move on probably does add up to a substantial amount. However, I do still wonder about safety protocol and how operators and the ride structure keeps patrons from derailing the experience.
This looks like it is the best attraction Disney has put out to date! I really love the thought and effort that went into this concept, story, theme for their theme parks. I remember reading an article just after they finished construction on this project and the detail and time, they put into the landscape is very true to what they are trying to achieve. They really do want this too feel like a planet from Star Wars and they really do want this to be a very enjoyable place within the park. I often don’t feel this when I attend other parts of the park such as where the pirates of the Caribbean ride is contained. It is themed and everything, but it feels fake and the atmosphere is flat. The atmosphere in this Star Wars attraction feels alive. The one thing I am skeptical about is if its actually worth going. People, and myself go for an experience and while they put the effort into making it a good one, I don’t know how well it will actually turn out if I attend this attraction. I love that they try and keep you in the world when you are in lines or walking around which is where the rest of the park tends to fail. A large part of this failure is due to people, they other patrons are not dressed up and often appear very touristy which takes you out of the experience; on top of that, the lines are usually long you can’t ever touch anything. They have come up with a solution to these problems, I just hope they are effective.
