www.cmu.edu/news: Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama faculty members Susan Tsu, the Bessie F. Anathan Professor of Costume Design, and Suttirat Larlarb, an associate professor of costume design, have a lot in common.
Both women feel passionately about their work as costume designers and educators and both have cited their fathers as strong models of a work ethic that has propelled both to the top of their field.

I'm so thrilled to have the honor and privilege to have Susan Tsu as a professor. Her teaching methods are insane and her involvement with her students is just incredible. I can definitely say that I never saw the world the way I do now, with an eye for color, emotion, meaning, and story, having Susan as my professor. Reading about her career and listening to stories about her successes, only solidifies my admiration. I also have the privilege of having Suttirat Larlarb as my academic advisor. Having seen her name on the walk of fame in front of Purnell, I felt kind of silly discussing my class schedule with her, knowing that she has designed for such amazing shows, movies, and events, and has been the art director for countless movies. What makes me happy to know both of these extraordinary women isn't the fact that they are both huge successes in the world of costumes and design. It's the fact that they chose to share their knowledge and experience with others, teaching the younger generation how to create art and spread imagination. I think that is more commendable than most things; achieving your goals and succeeding in your industry, and wanting the same for your students. Being a role model.
