I may not live in California, but I do live in Orlando, Florida and I love it when Disney puts these special events together. I'm super jealous because Disney's technology advances are through the roof right now. When ever I go to Epcot I always like to visit the innovations building to see what new and exciting inventions Disney is coming up with. And now when you go to Disney there are wristbands that are what you use to pay and get fast passes. Disney is just a huge goldmine and as a child I always wanted to be an imagineer. Events like this help people have dreams like mine come true. The only difference is most people would like to be apart of making new innovations, while I would like to be the one to create them.
Could we get out of class to go to California for this? I know Disney World has a one day backstage tour, but just reading the schedule for the two day experience in California was exciting. I have always been intrigued by how things work, that is part of the reason why I am a drama major. My favorite tv show is how its made so what would be better than a 2 day real life how its made special on disney land. There is so much magic in disney land that I am so curious about and this tour would probably help my understanding. But at the same time, it would ruin the magic for me. Part of the thrill of disney world, and theater for that matter, is not knowing and not caring how something is done. You see someone fly, you accept it because the theater has put you in a world where flying people is a thing. But for me, and I'd assume most people who study design or PTM, we can't except what we see, we look deeper and try to figure out how things are done. Thats what I did when i went to disney world last year. I enjoyed the rides, but not as much as I could have if I wasn't trying to figure everything out the whole time. I think this 2 day experience would show me what I wanted to know and would satisfy my curiosity.
This sounds like an amazing opportunity! Its like Disney's own version of SATE or LDI. If I could only get out of class to do this, I would be there in a heartbeat. It also seems like the people organizing this really know what theyre doing. The interary is pretty amazing, and I like how its not just a backstage tour, but instead a really in depth look at how stuff comes together. One of the best things I have ever done was the 7 hr backstage tour of Disney World. I learned so much and it really cemented my interest in being part of creating the magic. I think this type of event would be even cooler. I hope its around in the coming years so I can go!
This sounds like an amazing opportunity for us designers! One of my childhood dreams has been to design one of Walt Disney's World of Color Light Shows. I even ran my own mini version of world of color and did a tour throughout my hometown. I Think that Disney is doing something great with its decision to hold these workshops and intensive programs. Too bad they are all during classes. I would have loved to attend a seminar with the designers and programmers of Disney in either Florida or California. I will definitely look into this for the future.
This looks amazing! To bad this isn't a week later so that I could possibly do it over winter break! This sounds like the ultimate in depth look into how Disneyland resort runs. World of color is my favorite nighttime Disney show. It would be amazing to go behind the scenes and see how everything works. Not only would this be incredibly fun, but it could also be very helpful in informing my future career path. I want to work for Disney one day so this training could show me what it's actually like to bring Disney magic to life. I wish the Technical training also had a glimpse into the concept and development portion of imagineering. That would be a wonderful addition to this already amazing opportunity.
This is great that Disney does this because they are considered to be one of the companies to beat when it comes to PTM and technical elements. But through this tour you are not only seeing the facilities but you are also able to meet the people that created, work, and keep all of them working correctly. Also it would be very cool to see all of the new things that they are working on and also just to see things up close. It will also be very cool just to see how everything works. Next week I will try to go to it.
