Pro Sound Web: It’s a good time to invest in a new loudspeaker system. The economy is stabilizing and clients who had pulled back on events are showing signs of life.
Your inventory is tired and may be outdated. The new technologies are genuinely impressive. Better yet, manufacturers are chomping at the bit to get you into a new system.

At five pages, this was quite the detailed article. Yet, although it was about sound, I feel like there were takeaways for making big purchases in any field. Buying equipment is not just about the gear itself, but also all the peripherally related stuff that is just as important. Early on in the article, I felt that the mention of cross compatibility across different companies products was interesting. Yet furthermore, the paragraphs pertaining to investigating the support and training that a manufacturer provides was also on point. What good is your new gear if something breaks and nobody is on hand to help you troubleshoot.
I would agree with Ben in saying that this is a super detailed article. I think that this sort of article is exactly what people need to read before purchasing anything in the technical field. This is largely due to the fact that often times people will make a purchase because they have used a system for so long regardless of whether or not it is an obsolete system or not. One thing that this article does not outline that I feel is very important is can the item fill riders. You may have the most cutting edge system in the world but if you can't rent it out because nobody wants it what is the use of having it. It is very hard to tell Kanye West that he'll have to be mixed through a McCauley system when he is used to a Meyer system.
