Examining Video Server Configurations

c2meworld.com: Video servers are becoming commodity-like components for many applications, whether for a traditional television station play-to-air system or as an element in a content delivery platform. Broadcast servers are sometimes referred to as “transmission” servers and primarily serve the purpose of collecting and replaying program, commercial and interstitial record/play content from file-based content.

It's always interesting to find out what goes into designing these systems, everyone expects things to just automajically appear everywhere they need to, I know I wished it worked that way, but that's not the case. I just wish more people understood instead of complained, or at least read articles like these first so they have some idea about they are saying. And this could be generalized to all network systems too. Anyways, it doesn't surprise me that there are so many variables to take into account when designing these systems. I will never understand someone who just throws things like this together. At least plan it in a way to expand.
