This is fantastic! I am a huge fan of Milwaukee and this new expansion is really cool. Also, the inclusion of brushless motors is really interesting. I don't quite understand/remember exactly the benefits of brushless, but I do remember there being a lot of cool things about it. I would like to see them work in the ways of battery efficiency since they are heading in the path of all cordless tools.
After looking up exactly what a Brushless motor is, I am more excited about hat there are so many tools that are utilizing the technology, especially ones that all use the same battery pack. The brushless motors mean that there will be even longer battery life.
I think my favorite tool from their unveiling is the LED lantern with the built in USB phone charging port. Now all they need to do is build them right into the back of the batteries.
If you couldn't tell from all of my other comments on Milwaukee products or the fact that I rave about the products I own to anyone who cares to listen...I love Milwaukee products. Their utility knives are awesome and the Inkzall markers are fantastic. I never thought I would find anything that could replace the trusty Sharpie but the Inkzall is just so much better. My Sharpies tended to dry out or clog up really easily but I used the same Inkzall all summer and even now it still works. They are great on metal, even on oily surfaces so obviously I was thrilled when I saw that they are being released in more colors. I, like Chris, had to look up what was so great about a brushless motor and once I did I realized how great it is that Milwaukee seems to be exclusively using those types of motors now. Longer battery life, more torque, increased reliability, and increased efficiency, what else could you ask for? It's also cool to see them put so much emphasis on cordless tools since it means that they are actively working to improve the technology as much as possible which benefits everyone. Milwaukee continues to release awesome new products, what else is there to say?
Some of the products in this release that really catch my eye are the upgraded 7.25" circular saw and the condensed style impact driver and wrench. Having a durable and dependable circular saw is invaluable and most cordless circular saws, especially models from 5-6 years ago, burn thru batteries rather quickly. This new model seems to possess some finer qualities and may be worth a look. The cordless impacts though, I'd love to get my hands on one of those. I live by my Dewalt cordless impact but like the photo caption says many impact drivers can't reach those cramped spaces. That often means I have to run an air hose to a compressor and use a pneumatic impact wrench, which can be slightly inconvenient. With this new design, Milwaukee has taken a step further, creating a much more useful and versatile tool. Like everyone else has said, YAY! Brushless motors! They're not really new technology and some companies have slowly been upgrading their tools with the better technology, but with this new role out Milwaukee may have taken the lead, it certainly has one of the more diverse and expansive offerings of cordless tools in the market now. Maybe even the most advanced.
I don’t know about new tools so much as improved tools. It is hard to come up with new concepts for tools, its hard to reinvent the cordless drill or the circular saw, but Milwaukee keeps improving what they have. Lithium Ion batteries and brushless motors are the closest thing in recent history to reinventing a cordless drill (except for dewlaps giro screwdriver) and that technology could use improving to make it even batter. Milwakee doesn’t have the best batteries on the market, but they are doing pretty well and trying to do better. Are the changes in this new line significant? I don’t know, you can’t know until you use it.
