TV Writers Come Out Against Comcast/Time Warner Cable Deal

Consumerist: Given that Comcast is already the nation’s largest cable and Internet provider and the owner of a broadcast TV network, multiple cable channels, numerous local TV stations, a major movie studio, some theme parks, and a partridge in a pear tree, you might assume that people who make their living selling scripts to Comcast-owned companies would be reluctant to bite the hand that feeds them. But last week, the Writer’s Guild of America asked the FCC to block Comcast’s pending $45 billion deal to buy Time Warner Cable.

Reading this article reminds me of how out of the loop I've been in regards to tech news since I got to CMU, which is a little ironic in my opinion :P. I agree that Time Warner Cable & Comcast should not merge for the reasons started in the article. The major content providers practices already are detrimental to the consumer and this merger will not be helping the consumer in any way, shape, or form. The FCC shouldn't allow the merger, but if they do, they should require removal of restrictions on content, bandwidth throttling, etc...
