Backstage: Actors craving a life of adventure and musical theater on the high seas don’t need to live near an ocean to be cast in onboard cruise ship productions. Casting directors for the major cruise lines hold auditions in cities around the world on a rolling basis.
“We just did our New York auditions for ‘Legally Blonde’ and ‘Rock of Ages,’ and we have auditions coming up in L.A. next month,” Robert Dean Hertenstein, Norwegian Cruise Line’s manager of theatrical operations, told Backstage.

This was really interesting because I feel like cruise ship entertainment is something that's overlooked nowadays. I was surprised to hear that they held regional auditions in a variety of of cities. I would think that because this circle of entertainment is so small, that there would be only closed auditions. Nevertheless, the title of the article is misleading. While the content is relevant, there wasn't much on tips for cruise ships. While they did say who they were looking for, that content was lacking. In conclusion, I really enjoyed this article because it gave me a new look on different entertainments.
This article is really interesting to me because my best friend Just got off of a cruise line it's really awesome that young artists have the opportunity to dance professionally straight out of high school! I think it's really fun that she got that opportunity and the auditioning process was fairly simple because she is a really great dancer she went to an open call and then she got a job on Princess Cruise Lines as a dancer I hope one day that we will work together on a cruise line because I also would love to Stage manage and travel at the same time that's truly the dream and to be doing it with my best friend who had auditioned for a cruise line would be so awesome I think it's great that you can be in the Mediterranean on a cruise and be making money I am reading now that Princess Cruise Lines is even talking about open calls in this article what a coincidence.
