I think the advice in this article seems pretty common sense. Of course, a company isn't going to be happy if they match your asking salary and then you ask for more. That will just make you look like a greedy person. I think the overarching point of this article is to get across the point that one must be very careful when they decide what to ask for starting salaries. It is important for someone to not ask for a salary that is too high or too low, as a company may think that you are either over or underrating yourself. At the same time, it is important to settle for what they give you if they are giving you exactly what they ask.
I was really excited to read this article because I know nothing about salary negotiation, however I found most of the information here to be common sense. It did make me wonder how many people go into negotiations with unreal expectations of employers.Things like asking for breaks before you've done any work or less hours than your colleagues seem crazy to me, but there must be a significant amount of people doing it to warrant an article.
