Vincent Lighting Systems, Mainstage Theatrical Supply and Production Advantage Call Off Merger Plans

Stage Directions: Vincent Lighting Systems, Mainstage Theatrical Supply and Production Advantage, which announced plans to merge just a few weeks ago, have called off their merger plans for now, according to a joint statement that appeared recently on Vincent Lighting’s website. David Schaffenberger, general manager at Production Advantage, in a conversation with Stage Directions, says the merger will still happen, eventually, but that the companies decided to place the plans on hold to give them more time to focus on their core businesses, and do the job right rather than meet an arbitrary fixed deadline.

The fact that these companies are willing to stay their merger in order to properly focus on the individual business to maintain and ensure better success at the time the merger happens is reassuring. Seeing these vendors take the time to properly complete this merger without destroying their companies adds a certain level of reassurance to the action. Hopefully it is a preview of what is to come and one can take solace in the fact that the merger will ultimately benefit the consumer market, provide us with better products and services. On the other hand, we could also see the opposite, the joining of these companies changes the dynamic within the market and so pricing may not be as competitive and services could very well decline as the staff volume is ultimately decreased as the 3 vendors join consolidate their staff, resources and inventory.
