SAG-AFTRA Reaches Commercials Deal

www.backstage.com: After almost two months of negotiations, SAG-AFTRA has reached a tentative deal on its commercials contracts with the advertising industry. The union and the Joint Policy Committee have been negotiating since Feb. 14 and had to extend talks past the original March 31 deadline. Early on Saturday they announced a tentative deal had been struck. The deal, details of which haven’t been released, now goes to the National Board of Directors for approval at its April 20-21 meeting. After the board approves it, the package will be sent to the membership for ratification thereafter.

This article is very interesting! First off, it is worth noting that not a single person from the Joint Policy Committee is quoted in this article. That makes me think that they may not have been as happy as the quoted SAG-AFTRA leaders. Second, the article offers absolutely no specifics about what sort of agreement may have been struck. Usually, by now, that sort of information has at least leaked a little bit. So I think there's something strange going on here that we'll hear about more in the coming weeks.
