‘Kinky Boots,’ the Harvey Fierstein-Cyndi Lauper Musical
NYTimes.com: Cyndi Lauper knows how to work a crowd. Making her Broadway debut as a composer with “Kinky Boots,” the new musical that opened on Thursday night at the Al Hirschfeld Theater, this storied singer has created a love- and heat-seeking score that performs like a pop star on Ecstasy. Try to resist if you must. But for at least the first act of this tale of lost souls in the shoe business, you might as well just give it up to the audience-hugging charisma of her songs.

I hope I get to see this show. Party because Kevin worked on it and he showed us some of his drafting, and partly because it seems like a very interesting show. I haven't seen any of Cindy Lauper's work, but it seems really interesting!
This show was UNREAL and I loved every moment of it. I am usually not one for campy musicals, but this one was the perfect amount of campy and heart-wrenching story mixed together. I loved the book, and loved the characters that were developed. David Rockwell's scenery was really quite creative and interesting, and I was fortunate enough to discuss it with him, prior to having known that Kevin worked on it!
If you have not had a chance to see this, DO. Truly, the show is spectacular and has been received well so far! I'm hoping that it survives on Broadway and I can't wait to see how it does at the Tony's this season!
