Stage | guardian.co.uk: I'd rather stab myself in the eye than queue outside a shop for the Boxing Day sales, and I'm never going to wait in line to get into a theme park or to get my hands on the latest gadget. But there is one kind of queue that I really don't mind, and that's the queue to buy theatre tickets to a highly anticipated show. Even as a critic, it's something I still sometimes do to get day tickets to a sold-out show, or when booking in advance for a family outing to the latest Punchdrunk or something else that's hugely popular.

Although I have seen and heard many aggressive and dangerous queues because people became nervous and hostile about getting tickets, I agree it can be sometimes very friendly place. For example, during this spring break, I have been to a queue for musical lottery. I eventually did not win the lottery and became tired from cold weather and long waiting time, but I was happy to be there because people in the queue were so friendly and celebrating people who won. I agree that if people are enthusiastic about certain area such as sports, entertainment, and product, I have no doubt they are willing to be in the line for long time because it is worthy afterward. Also, I totally agree how at the end, some people can meet friends while waiting in the line.
