The Feds won't stamp out the PGA mark

latimes.com: In one of the stranger intersections of Washington and Hollywood, the Justice Department has given its blessing to a proposed voluntary certification system for producers.
The department said in a statement Friday that it would not challenge a new system backed by the Producers Guild of America that would give producers a "p.g.a." mark of accreditation next to their credits if they qualified under the guild's rules.

It is interesting that they are coming up with this system that allows producers to get certified. This is a good idea and should be put into place. The big thing is, will they teach and how will these people use their training and certification in the workplace. in the work place. Questions to ask are, what is the time line that every one has to get certified? How long is certification to last? What would be the ramifications if you don't do this certification? Can you be shut down if not certified? I have seen some of these type of things tried and did not work in practice but it looked great on paper. There are definitely a lot of questions that need to be cleared up befoer they go ahead and do this project.
