Yahoo! News: "Kevin Spacey performed some impromptu 'street theater' Tuesday to ask Congress for continued funding of the National Endowment for the Arts amid calls for deep budget cuts.
Spacey was supposed to testify in the House during a hearing that was canceled at the last minute for budget negotiations to avoid a government shutdown. Instead, he performed a version of his testimony for arts supporters.

Well it is good to hear that someone is fighting to save the arts. It is hard think to argue though, sure I definitely believe that we need more funding for arts and that arts programs should not be cut. But do I believe that they should be cut over programs in schools that feed kids, or over social security. I don't really think that it is my place to judge people who are cutting funding because I really have no gauge on weather we really need to be cut or not. And as things that would need to be cut go, the arts would probably be the first thing I cut too because others things are much more vital to our survival. This being said if the arts are being cut irrationally and if they can provide opportunities to people that will help them survive (i.e. after school programs to keep kids off the street) then I think that we should take a closer look.
